Two DUI rollover accidents in La Quinta

The first accident happened just after 1 early Saturday morning.

La Quinta Police found a single vehicle roll-over traffic collision at Highway 111 and Washington St.

Police say the driver of a Cadillac sedan was traveling east on Highway 111 when he failed to make the turn.

He hit the curb, causing his vehicle to roll over and come to rest on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Police identify the driver as 22-year- old Daniel Yanez, from La Quinta.

Yanez sustained minor injuries and it appears that alcohol was a factor during this collision. Yanez was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to a local hospital for precautionary medical treatment.

An adult male passenger was uninjured during the collision.

Then about an hour later, police responded to a report of a single-vehicle traffic collision at Adams St. and Woodberry Ln.

Police say the driver of a Chrysler sedan was traveling south on Adams St. and went up the west curb south of Woodberry Ln., hitting a shrubbery and a tree, causing the vehicle to roll over.

Police identify the driver as Maricela Fausto, age 21 from La Quinta. Fausto was uninjured and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Anyone with any information about this incident is urged to contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, at (760) 863-8990, or they can call in anonymously at (760) 341-STOP (7867).
