Authorities find marijuana farm inside home in Riverside County

An investigation was underway today at a house in Eastvale where an indoor marijuana farm and nearly 1,000 plants were found by a sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team serving a search warrant, authorities said.

The warrant was served at a house in the 13000 block of Ellis Park Trail around 5 p.m. Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal residential marijuana cultivation, said Sgt. Justin Rowan of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The unoccupied residence “had been modified for the sole purpose of cultivating, processing and packaging marijuana for sales,” he said. Along with the growing plants, investigators also found one pound of processed marijuana, digital scales and packaging material, Rowan said.

“Additionally, electricity was being bypassed around the meter, causing a serious fire hazard and resulting in approximately $6,000 a month in stolen electricity,” he said.
