Authorities close roads around Sunnylands sooner than explected

Authorities closed roads today ahead of scheduleout of “concerns (for) public safety” in conjunction with President BarackObama’s Friday meeting with the Chinese president in Rancho Mirage.

The closures originally were scheduled to start Friday morning, but werechanged to noon. Bob Hope Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic betweenGerald Ford and Frank Sinatra drives and Frank Sinatra is closed fromMorningside Drive to Monterey Avenue.

The roads will be closed until Sunday night, according to Rancho Mirageofficials.

Obama and Xi will meet at the Sunnylands estate in Rancho Mirage onFriday and Saturday. Motorcade routes will not be announced to the public.

In Palm Springs, Kirk Douglas Way will close from Friday morning throughMonday morning. Motorists should use Ramon or El Cielo roads.
