Local border patrol agents seize 264.5 pounds of marijuana

On Thursday afternoon, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Border Patrol station arrested five men smuggling over 260 pounds of marijuana into the United States.

At around 2:00 p.m., after agents tracked five men through a remote desert area. The five men illegally entered the United States from Mexico 19 miles west of the Calexico West Port of Entry.

Soon after reaching Highway 98, Border Patrol agents apprehended the five Mexican National males, along with ten packages of marijuana with a totaling 264.5 pounds.

The packages of marijuana have an estimated street value of $211,600.

The five males and marijuana were turned over to the Imperial Valley Street Interdiction Team for further investigation.
