Rancho Las Palmas being sold to Texas company

Omni Hotels announced today that it bought theRancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage and four other properties.

The Irving, Texas-based company said in a statement that it will takeover the five facilities from KSL Capital Partners at the beginning of nextmonth. No financial terms were disclosed.

“Each of these properties is unique in its own right — rich inheritage and distinctive in their elegance and charm,” said Mike Deitemeyer,president of the hotel chain.

“We would be fortunate to own and operate any single one of thesecelebrated resorts,” Deiemeyer said. “By purchasing all five of theseproperties, Omni has significantly enhanced our growing Resort Collection interms of scope, scale and prestige.”

Omni already has a hotel in downtown San Diego.

The other newly purchased properties are La Costa Resort and Spa inCarlsbad, the Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, The Grove Park Inn inAsheville, N.C., and The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va.
