Rep. Raul Ruiz to wear CVHS jersey in congressional baseball game

Tonight, Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Palm Desert) will suit up in a Coachella Valley High School replica jersey for the annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity. The game will be held at Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals baseball team.

“Baseball is our nation’s favorite pastime and a tradition that binds generations of families and our American community,” said Dr. Ruiz. “Some of my best childhood memories were made playing Little League and high school baseball under the hot sun on fields across the Coachella Valley. I am so excited and proud to be playing for my hometown again in tonight’s game to benefit three great charities.”

Dr. Ruiz is slated to play 2nd base and will be wearing a #8 jersey – a replica of the one he wore during his time as an all-league third baseman at Coachella Valley High School.

The Congressional Baseball Game began in 1909 and serves as a charity benefit for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, the Washington Literacy Council, and the Nationals Dream Foundation.
