$214,000 in meth seized near Salton Sea

Boder Patrol agents near the Salton Sea seized 6.7 pounds of methamphetamine Thursday after they discovered the drug tucked away under the rear seat of a Chevy Silverado.

The suspect, an unnamed man, was trying to pass through the Highway 86 checkpoint when a drug dog sniffed out his truck for inspection. During a search of the vehicle, authoritiesfound a black package of methamphetamine concealed “within a non-factory battery compartment” beneath the rear passenger seat.

Border Patrol estimated the street value of the drugs to be over $214,000.

The suspect, a United States Citizen, was arrested and turned over tho the Drug Enforcement agency along with the truck and drugs.
