Palm Springs to honor local businesses

The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce will honor local businesses and entrepreneurs, including prominent restaurant owners Barbara and Jerry Keller, at its annual Installation and Awards Luncheon Tuesday.

The event starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Renaissance hotel. The Kellers, owners of LuLu in Palm Springs and Acqua Pazza in Rancho Mirage, will be named the 2013 “Business Persons of the Year.” The Kellers are involved in several desert charities and boards, including the Palm Springs Art Museum and Desert AIDS Project, according to the chamber.

CareFusion will be recognized as “Large Business of the Year,” Socialize Palm Springs as “Medium Business of the Year” and BuzzFactory as “Small Business of the Year.”

Jody Weikal of Palm Springs Errands and More will be honored as “Ambassador of the Year.”

Ulrich McNulty of Palm Springs law firm Schlecht, Shevlin and Shoenberger will take over as chamber president from Andrew Starke of the Palm Springs Power baseball team.

Retiring board members Tim Ellis of Palm Mountain Resort and Palm Springs Follies co-founder Mary Jardin will be honored for their years of service.
