Man suspected of driving under the influence in Rancho Mirage high speed crash

A 27-year-old man suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol when he crashed a speeding sports car on Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage is facing possible criminal charges today.

Jaime Perez of Palm Desert was driving a BMW Z4 at a high rate of speed
eastbound on Highway 111 near Paxton Road just after 11 p.m. Monday when the
car struck the south side curb and crossed the center median before coming to
rest near the north side curb of the highway, said Riverside County sheriff’s
Sgt. Patrick Carroll.

“No injuries were sustained and it is believed that alcohol consumption
was a factor in this collision,” Carroll said.

Perez was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked the Riverside County
Jail in Banning.
