Man arrested after threatening SunLine bus driver

A 53-year-old Palm Springs man was behind bars todayfor allegedly threatening a bus driver in Palm Desert.

The threats were reported about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday on a SunLine bus inthe 44000 block of Monterey Avenue. The suspect, Joel Brownstein, allegedly goton the bus and was involved in a “verbal altercation” with the driver,sheriff’s Sgt. Aaron Eller said.

The driver called SunLine’s dispatch center to report Brownstein’salleged threats, and sheriff’s deputies subsequently arrested him. No one washurt and no weapons were used, Eller said.

Brownstein was booked into county jail in Indio and was being held inlieu of $5,000 bail, according to jail records.
