Heart attack kills construction worker at Indian Wells Tennis Garden

A construction worker at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden died Monday after collapsing and hitting his head, according to authorities.

At around 11 a.m. Monday, Indian Wells police responded to the Gardens in regards to an industrial accident. They soon learned 55-year-old Daniel Duncan of Moreno Valley reportedly “collapsed while working at the construction site and struck his head,” according to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

Duncan was rushed to a local hospital where he “succumbed tohis injuries.”

The Indian Wells Tennis Garden is in the process of completing a second stadium.

UPDATE – The Indian Wells Tennis Garden has released this statement regarding the death: “We have since learned from his family that he passed away from an apparent heart attack. The team at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and Watkins Landmark Construction, are deeply saddened at this loss of life and extend their deepest sympathies to the worker’s family and loved ones.”
