All lanes reopen on I-10 after gas leak

KESQ

The Palm Springs Fire Department says all lanes on the I-10 are now open after being closed due to a methane gas leak, which has been mitigated.

CHP issued a Sigalert around 5:00 p.m for both east and westbound lanes on the highway due to the gas leak in the area near Garnet Avenue and Indian Canyon Drive.

The California Department of Transportation responded to the scene along with officers from the Palms Springs Police Department.

A one-mile evacuation zone was implemented and police advised people to avoid the area.

The cause of the gas leak is unknown.
