Grand marshals selected for Festival of Lights Parade

Local business leaders will join Suzanne Somers and ‘Guardian Angel’ Patty Delgado Service as they march in the 22nd annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade on December, 7.

Barbara and Jerry Keller, owners of the LULU California Bistro in downtown Palm Springs, were named community grand marshals for the signature holiday event by Mayor Steve Pougnet on Monday. The Kellers are well known for giving back to the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Desert AIDS Project, in addition to other nonprofit organizations.

The parade will feature marching bands, huge Macy’s-style balloons, floats decked out in holiday lights, and of course, Santa Claus on the ‘Jackie Lee Houston Santa Claus Express’, according to city officials.

The parade takes place along Palm Canyon Drive at 5:45 p.m. on December, 7. City officials said more than 100,000 residents and visitors are expected to attend.

Mayor Pougnet said the event is, “The biggest and best holiday parade in Southern California and beyond. I invite everyone in the Coachella Valley to bring the whole family.”

The event is being sponsored by PS Resorts.
