CCPD: 28 rounds fired in neighborhood, one man shot in leg

One man was taken to the hospital Wednesday night with a gunshot wound to the leg according to Cathedral City police. It happened at the intersection of Avenida Quintana and Vista Chino at about 10:45PM according to Sergeant Scott Sharpe.

Neighbors say they heard several shots, one even saying it sounded like “fireworks.” When police officers arrived, they found 28 shell casings in the street. Officers say there was evidence of three different weapons that were used.

Sgt. Sharpe says he believes multiple shooters got out of a vehicle and began to shoot. At least four cars were hit in the shooting, one as far as 200 yards away.

Officers are looking for any suspects and are asking the public to come forward with any information. The man shot during the shooting did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
