Indio bank robbed two times within one month

The U.S. Bank that was robbed in Indio on April 18 was targeted again on Wednesday. Indio police believe the same suspect may be responsible for both robberies.

The bank is located in the 82100 block of Hwy. 111 and Monroe Street. The robbery was reported around 1:10 p.m.

Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron said the suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30’s. He’s about 5’3″ to 5’5″ tall. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a long-sleeved shirt and camouflage pants.

Guitron said the man entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. Nobody saw a weapon but the suspect pretended to have one in his waistband.

The man made off with an unknown amount of cash. Indio police said he ran to a getaway vehicle and began traveling westbound on Avenue 46 toward Clinton Street.

Police searched the area but weren’t able to find the suspect.

This is actually the third time this year the U.S. Bank in Indio has been robbed. The first robbery occurred on February 18.
