Sheriff’s deputy involved in Palm Desert crash

A woman was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after a crash occurred involving a sheriff’s deputy.

According to the sheriff’s department, the crash happened at about 1:43 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Dinah Shore Drive.

Officials said a deputy was driving northbound on Monterey and was approaching Dinah Shore when the deputy’s car hit a black Mercedes. A man and woman were traveling in the Mercedes.

The sheriff’s department said the woman was in pain following the crash and was taken to the hospital. The man and deputy were both fine after the accident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
