Pedestrian struck by semi-truck in Coachella dies

A New Year’s Eve tragedy in Coachella, has left one man dead, after he is hit by a semi-truck that was backing up into a loading dock at a private property packing house on the 54-900 Block of Fillmore Street around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday night.

The victim, a 50-year old male, was assisting his driver in backing their trailer into the loading dock. He was standing on the loading dock, as the trailer was still backing.

The victim became pinned between the trailer and the loading dock door. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he later died.

His identification is pending the notification of next-of-kin. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
