High speed chase ends in Palm Desert country club
News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 have learned more about a routine overnight traffic stop Wednesday that turned into a high speed chase throughout Indio and Palm Desert.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers tried to pull over 30-year-old Nicholas Rios of Vista around 11 p.m. for a traffic violation near the CHP headquarters in Indio.
Rios refused to stop. The pursuit ended when Rios drove through a security arm at the Oasis Country Club in Palm Desert, located on Hovely Lane East, between Cook Street and Washington Street.
The pickup truck Rios was driving finally stopped in a cul-de-sac and he was arrested. Officers said he’s facing charges of DUI, felony evading and possession of methamphetamine.
The California Highway Patrol is expected to release more details about the arrest Thursday afternoon.
