29-year-old man identified after deadly crash in Palm Springs

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the 29-year-old man who was killed in a car crash Wednesday afternoon at East Racquet Club Road and North Sunrise Way in Palm Springs.

The collision involving two BMW’s happened just after 11 a.m.

Cathedral City resident Thomas Moncrief was ejected from his car and was rushed to the hospital. The coroner said he died from his injuries a few hours after the crash.

Police didn’t elaborate on the extent of injuries to the other driver.

North Sunrise Way was closed between East Rochelle Road and East Francis Drive while officers investigated the collision. Sgt. Harvey Reed with the Palm Springs Police Department said the road reopened just before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The crash scattered a lot of debris throughout the roadway, which is one of the reasons the road was closed for such a long time.

Additional details regarding the crash will be released as soon as the investigation is complete.

Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the Palm Springs Police Department at 760-323-8125.
