Music instructor arrested with child pornography
A 52-year-old, self-employed music instructor of Redlands was arrested on Tuesday after a years-long investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department revealed child pornography on his electronic devices.
According to deputies, the investigation began on September 26, 2013, after a woman told authorities she believed child pornography was stored on multiple electronic devices at a home in the 7000 block of Bobcat Lane in the city of Highland.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Detail discovered the owner of the electronic devices was Michael Freeland, a Redlands resident.
Officials said the sheriff’s Hi-Tech Detail found images of child pornography on Freeland’s electronic devices.
Freeland was interviewed by detectives at the sheriff’s department on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Following the interview, he was booked at the Central Detention Center for possession of child pornography, according to the sheriff’s release.
Freeland posted bail of $25,000 and was released from jail on Wednesday. His arraignment date hasn’t been scheduled yet.
Officials said Freeland is a self-employed music instructor in Redlands.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Jennifer Burkhart at (909) 387-3615.
