Serena Williams edges out tough battle with Sloane Stephens

After losing the first set in tie-break fashion, the pressure was on for Serena Williams as her U.S. opponent Sloan Stephens really showed up to play in the fourth round of the women’s singles at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells Tuesday afternoon.

The tough match, mixed with Serena’s return to the BNP Paribas Open for the first time in 14 years, weren’t enough for the top ranked women’s tennis player in the world to relinquish her victory.

Stephens took the first set 7-6. Williams bounced back by taking the second set 6-2 and the third set 6-2 as well.

Many fans are excited to see Williams back in action at the BNP Paribas Open after her 13-year hiatus from the desert’s professional tennis tournament.
