Navy SEAL identified after deadly skydiving fall near Perris
Officials with Cal Fire said a skydiver died Wednesday morning near Perris.
The coroner’s office identified the man as 29-year-old Jason Kortz. The Navy confirmed that Kortz was a Navy SEAL based out of Coronado. He was from San Diego.
Emergency crews were called shortly after 9 a.m. on a report of a skydiver “down” in the area of Richard Street and Highway 74. Firefighters said the Kortz died at the scene.
The investigation into his death is ongoing. There haven’t been any additional details released at this time.
