Lane closures planned in Palm Desert for CVWD construction

The Coachella Valley Water District is working to eliminate leaks from an aging domestic water pipeline in Palm Desert.

Officials said the project will divert the water from the aging pipeline to a newer one, which will require them to close a couple of lanes at the intersection of Fred Waring Drive and California Drive for about eight hours on Thursday.

The following lanes are expected to be closed sporadically between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m:

Westbound far right lane on Fred Waring Drive. There won’t be access onto California Drive from Fred Waring Drive.
Eastbound turn lane on Fred Waring Drive and entering onto California Drive.
There will be limited access from California Drive onto Fred Waring Drive.

Crews ask drivers to be careful while passing through the construction zone and to avoid the area if possible.
