Young female injures 2 after brief police chase in Cathderal City

Officers are investigating after a young female crashed a car while fleeing the Cathedral City Police Department Tuesday afternoon.

According to the release, detectives saw a suspect wanted on a felony warrant enter a vehicle on McCallum Street around 2:45 p.m. The driver didn’t stop for police and a short pursuit began.

Lt. Julio Luna said the suspect turned west onto Baristo Road and hit a car occupied by two elderly women that was traveling southbound on Landau Boulevard, ending the chase.

The suspect’s car then crashed into a wall at the entrance to Cimmaron Cove. Officers said there were three adults and one juvenile in the suspect’s vehicle. None of them were injured.

The two elderly women were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Officers said the young female suspect was taken into custody but they haven’t elaborated on her age or the charges she may be facing.

Landau Boulevard was closed between Ramon Road and Baristo Road while police were on scene. News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will deliver updates as the investigation moves forward.
