2 adults displaced after motor home catches fire

A motor home caught fire at the Rancho Casa Blanca RV Resort in Indio Wednesday afternoon, displacing a man and a woman.

Cal Fire was called to 84136 Avenue 44 just before 1 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find the motor home fully engulfed in flames.

Officials said the total damage to the Class A motor home is estimated at $175,000. An adjacent triple-wide mobile home was also damaged in the fire, with estimated damages at $16,000.

Fortunately nobody was injured in the fire.

Heavy black smoke was visible in the sky for about 30 minutes while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. Fire officials stayed at the scene for a couple of hours Wednesday afternoon to mop up the damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 went to the scene Wednesday afternoon but the motor home is located in a gated community so our cameras couldn’t capture the aftermath.

We’ll have more details as the investigation into the fire continues.
