TWC landline phones not working in some areas
For more than ten days, landline phone customers with Time Warner Cable across the Coachella Valley have been having problems with their phone service.
KESQ has received several messages from people complaining their phones are not working.
“Service has been pretty poor, in that people can call us and get a circuit busy or nothing at all. If we go to call out, nothing happens, but it’s intermediate, the next day something could happen,” said Terry Friedman who has not had consistent phone service for more than a week.
“The answers I’m getting from Time Warner just aren’t adequate. I also think they should have been proactive, otherwise we have a serious problem with the outage, from what I understand, the problem runs from somewhere at the bottom of Coachella, maybe a little lower, up to and including Banning,” said Friedman.
Friedman, who has been battling bladder cancer for six years, needs his phone.
“I have a major surgery coming up tomorrow, hospitals have to call, doctors have to call, though I give out my cell number, it’s something I don’t feel like giving out,” said Friedman.
According to representatives with Time Warner Cable, the outages are happening as a result of a firmware update for some of their phone modems.
“We apologize that a small number of customers were impacted by an issue that affected certain models of phone modems. Our engineers worked to restore services as quickly as possible. Any customers still experiencing a disruption of their phone service should contact a Time Warner Cable representative in order to resolve any remaining issues,” said a statement sent to KESQ from Time Warner Cable.
