PSUSD releases statement after 13-year-old stabbed at school

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department is investigating after a 12-year-old stabbed a 13-year-old at Painted Hills Middle School on Thursday.

According to Commander Henson, the stabbing happened at 11:51 a.m.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 heard from officials with the Palm Springs Unified School District Thursday evening. They said the stabbing happened on school grounds after two seventh graders got into a fight.

The 13-year-old victim was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries and was expected to make a full recovery.

The 12-year-old was taken into custody.

‘School officials, law enforcement and medical personnel responded immediately. The safety of our students remains our number one priority. The incident is under investigation.’
