Progress continues on fire in San Bernardino Mountains

Firefighters continue to make progress on the Lake Fire burning in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Containment Tuesday night was up to 65 percent with 31,359 acres burned since the fire started on June 17th.

All evacuations are lifted, but Forest Service lands remain closed for recreation including the Pacific Crest Trail from Whitewater Preserve to Onyx Summit.

Several campgrounds along Highway 39 will remain closed until July 9th.

More than 1,700 personnel remain assigned to the fire.

There have been 5 firefighter injuries. One structure and three outbuildings have been destroyed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The cost to fight the fire is up to $32.5 million dollars.
