Classic Party Rentals cutting down on water use

Classic Party Rentals in Thousand Palms is cutting down its trees to cut down on water use.

“Trying to save some water we started cutting all of the trees and make it look nice especially this building, especially here on the main road on Varner,” said Classic Party Rentals operations manager Luis Nunez.

Nunez said it’s time for the company to make a change. For years the water guzzling trees that surrounded the building wore out the irrigation system and would cause leaks underground.

“Since these landscaping lines were so old, a lot of leaks and all of that,” said Nunez.

Now Classic’s moving forward with new drought-friendly desert landscaping and a new irrigation system.

The company hopes new gravel they plan to install will stop some of the blowing dust from filling its parking lot and give business a boost.

“It’s going to look beautiful … Probably a lot of people are going to see our business. Hopefully we can grow some business here for our local people,” said Nunez.

The project will be completed just in time for Classic Party Rentals big season kickoff on Sept. 23.
