Eight4Nine is officially open in Palm Springs

A new restaurant in the uptown design district in Palm Springs is ready for customers.

Eight4Nine Restaurant and Lounge is now officially open. Tuesday there was a star studded ribbon cutting that included singing legend Carol Channing. The address, as you might guess, is 849 North Palm Canyon Drive. The owners took over the 1954 Palm Springs Post Office and turned it into a new eatery that combines modernism with a rustic farm house feel.

“I think we’ve added something very special to Palm Springs, the restaurant is something eclectic,” says owner Willie Rhine. “We are in the Uptown District and its exciting to have one of the swankiest hippest restaurants in town.”

The menu is “West Coast modern American.” Some of the signature dishes include sourdough-crusted wild-caught Alaskan halibut, Dungeness crab, -stuffed piquillo pepper, and cedar-planked Sonoma duck. Eight4Nine will also feature a daily 4-course prix fixe dinner menu and brunch on the weekends.
