TRAFFIC ALERT: La Quinta Road Work Near City Hall

Major road work continues this week in the City of La Quinta at Washington Street, Calle Tampico, and Avenida La Fonda that may cause delays near City Hall. The City is working on a recycling project that will rehabilitate the pavement on these roads. In order to complete the work in as timely and safe a manner as possible, please be advised that the following road closures and detours will be necessary:

THIS WEEK

Wed, Thurs & Fri (Nov 18-20), 6:00am to 7:00pm*

(WED) Washington Street will be “partially” closed from Avenue 50 to Avenue 52 for final asphalt rolling, with at least one lane remaining open to traffic in each direction. Construction personnel will be directing traffic at the Calle Tampico, Avenida La Fonda, and Avenue 52 intersections, as needed.

(THURS & FRI) Washington Street will be closed “entirely” from Avenue 50 to Avenue 52 for final paving, including the intersection of Calle Tampico and Washington Street.

Avenue 50 and Avenue 52 will remain open to eastbound and westbound traffic. However, construction personnel will intermittently close the intersections for paving.

Calle Tampico will be closed between Washington Street and the old Ralphs entrance across from City Hall (traffic can use Desert Club or Avenida Bermudas for detours).

Avenida La Fonda is tentatively scheduled to be closed (from Wed, Nov 18 to Fri, Nov 20) between Washington Street and the south City Hall parking lot entrance; this south entrance should be used given the Washington Street south parking lot entrance will be closed.

Washington Street and Calle Tampico will re-open on Fri, Nov 20 (evening) and should remain open for the weekend.

Tradition Residents, please use the east construction gate during this closure.

*Generally, alternate routes include surrounding streets such as Avenue 50, Eisenhower Drive, Avenue 52, and Jefferson Street.
