Police investigate La Quinta shooting
Authorities are investigating the shooting of one person Monday evening around 7:15 p.m.
A Riverside County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson says officers got a call of shots fired on the 47700 block of Dune Palms Road, south of Highway 111 and across the street from the Desert Sands Unified School District headquarters.
When deputies arrived, they found one person in the parking lot of the Wolff Waters Place apartment complex suffering from a gunshot wound. That person was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Investigators on scene were seen looking through the shattered windows of a car, but deputies would not say whether the victim was inside the car when he or she was shot.
No one is in custody, and police are asking for the public’s help.
