Valley residents react to Republican presidential debate
Republican voters of the valley came out to support their Presidential runners at the GOP debate party at Palm Canyon Roadhouse, tonight in Palm Springs. ISIS, border security, and foreign policy were the top major topics for the last Republican national debate of the year.
At the start of the show, the majority of people who came out to the watch party supported Donald Trump.
John McIntire from Palm Springs says, “I think they are doing a great job and seeing the different views. I like Trumps thinking maybe because I’m from the east coast originally. So I’m liking that guy and I think there is a lot of good ideas and I think the stage will be absent a few of these people in the next debate they are going to start to fall off now.”
After the debate a few people might have been somewhat interested in what the other candidates had to say.
“I like Chris Christie and Kasich tonight because they are coming from governing their states and they are coming from know what they have done in their states and they have practical working knowledge of how a state works so maybe in the bigger picture they can make the whole country work,” said Mya Scamara of Palm Springs.
Yet Trump remained the over all favorite at the viewing party.
“I like the diversification and what everyone is talking about, because this country is in trouble. I particularly like Donald because he doesn’t need anyone to help him to prove anything he loves his country,” said Mary Lu of La Quinta.
Not only was this a chance for Republican citizens to get together and talk politics, but it was also a chance to give back and support a good cause.
There were ticket raffles and donations made to Soldiers Organized Services (SOS), an organization that gives free rides to active serving marines at the Twentynine Palms Marine Base.
Erica Stone, founder of SOS says “because they buy their tickets at the last minute because of orders and uncertainty right now and to pay additional taxi fare on top of that a lot of them wouldn’t be able to make it home for Christmas. They rely on this service to get them to and from and whatever money they do save they get to buy better presents for their family.”
The democratic presidential candidates will take the debate stage in Manchester, New Hampshire this Saturday, December 19th.
