Woman pleads not guilty to stabbing boyfriend in chest

A 35-year-old Desert Hot Springs woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend during an argument about their relationship pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a felony domestic violence charge.

Tiffany A. Smith also faces a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a knife in the commission of a felony. She’s free on $25,000 bail but was ordered to retrun to court on January 4 for a felony settlement conference.

Smith was arrested on Wednesday, November 4 at about 9:30 p.m. after officers were called to the 66900 block of Estrella Avenue on a report of assault with a deadly weapon.

Sgt. Daud Chang said the victim and witnesses at the scene told police that Smith grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim after the argument escalated.

Officers said the man, who was not identified, received medical treatment at the residence for a minor wound.

Smith was arrested and taken to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
