Morongo Indian Reservation lockdown over says Tribal official

The Morongo Indian Reservation was on lockdown due to the pursuit of a suspect wanted for an assault with a deadly weapon earlier today. A tribe spokesman has told us that the lockdown is now over.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department they were assisting tribal police on the Morongo Indian Reservation in Cabazon, in locating a suspect wanted in an assault with a deadly weapon, that occurred on the reservation earlier today.

Deputies tried to pull over the suspect and there was a pursuit says Armando Munoz of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The investigation is ongoing, says Munoz.

According to the tribe’s website, the schools on the reservation have been evacuated, parents are being told to pick up students at the Bingo Hall in the old casino.

Around 3:00 p.m. we were notified by a tribal spokesperson that the schools were closed due to a precaution and the lockdown has been lifted. No word on if police arrested the suspect they were looking for.
