CVHS holds 2nd annual ‘Abuelito Dance’

Coachella Valley High School held its special senior ‘Abuelito Dance’ last Friday. The second annual event had students asking their grandparents to be their date, to what school officials referred to as a fabulous ‘Zoot Suit Boogie’.

The event is a unique opportunity for students to spend time with their grandparents, which are their abuelitos, as well as other elders from the Coachella Valley Senior Center by having a celebration dance. The event was held inside the mini-gym from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Officials with CVUSD said the elderly woman seen in the video has trouble walking, but decided to ditch her walker to get down on the dance floor.

The event began last year and is expected to continue at Coachella Valley High School for years to come.
