Power restored after Hwy. 62 crash in Morongo Valley
UPDATE: Traffic was moving again in both directions of Highway 62 as of 8:15 a.m. Friday morning. And Southern California Edison is no longer reporting a power outage for the 1,014 customers impacted by the crash, as of 12 p.m.

Motorists were urged to avoid Highway 62 between Yucca Valley and Palm Springs Friday morning after a vehicle hit a power pole at 5:15 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said the collision downed power lines on the roadway.
The CHP had reopened all eastbound lanes toward Palm Springs shortly after 7:30 a.m.
One eastbound lane was reopened at 7:15 a.m., a second was reopened at 7:35 a.m.
Traffic headed toward Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms was still blocked as of 7:45 a.m.
Cal Fire crews initially blocked all four lanes of traffic because of downed power lines.
Highway 62 was closed at Pinion Drive for westbound traffic.
Southern California Edison was notified of the downed lines and said 1014 customers in the area were without service.
Those customers were expected to see all service restored by 11:30 a.m.
There was no word on any detours around the trouble near the Yucca grade in Morongo Valley, just west of Yucca Valley.
There was no word on any injuries, but the collision did spark a small brush fire near the roadway.
The roadway is a major travel corridor for high desert residents who work in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.
