Identity released for one of two men killed in tree trimming accident

Authorities have released the name of one tree trimmer who died in a Thermal jobsite accident on Saturday.

Two men died when the crane they were cutting palm fronds in touched energized power lines and caught fire.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office said one of the dead was 22-year old Osvaldo Ceron-Sevilla of Thermal.

A second man’s name had not yet been released, the coroner’s office only saying he was a Coachella resident.

The accident happened at 10:51 a.m. Saturday along the 68600 block of Harrison Street.

Three tree trimmers were working in the bucket.

The coroner’s office has not yet released the causes of death for either of the two men killed, but says it’s under investigation.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, Cal-Osha, is also involved.
