DSUSD announces staff changes at several schools

Officials with the Desert Sands Unified School District sent out a notice Thursday about staff changes at several schools:

Indio High School’s Principal Derrick Lawson – On March 15th, the Board of Education appointed Derrick Lawson to fill the vacancy created by Principal Rudy Ramirez’s retirement. A lifelong resident of the Coachella Valley and proud graduate of Indio High School, Mr. Lawson is anxious to return to collaborate and lead the Rajahs to even greater accomplishments.
Colonel Mitchell Paige Middle School Principal Janet Seto – During her twelve years at La Quinta Middle School, Mrs. Seto has guided the school through many changes and transitions. In 2015, the school earned the California Gold Ribbon School Award, Title 1 Achieving School Award, and California Department of Education’s Exemplary Physical Activity and Nutrition Program, among many other honors.
La Quinta Middle School Assistant Principal Esther Lopez – After sixteen years as principal of Thomas Jefferson Middle School, Ms. Lopez requested a reassignment to partner with Dan Borgen in the transformation of Harry S. Truman Elementary School and La Quinta Middle School into a STEM pathway. “This is a good change for me, personally and professionally. I welcome the challenge to take on a new role.”
Benjamin Franklin/Harry S. Truman Elementary Assistant Principal Tammie Monroy – Mrs. Monroy has been part of the “dynamic duo” that has led La Quinta Middle School to honors and recognition in her seven years as assistant principal there. Mrs. Monroy is adding elementary administration to her impressive rsum as the new assistant principal at Franklin and Truman elementary schools.
