Man gets 10 years in state prison for DHS burglary
A man who burglarized a Desert Hot Springs home pleaded guilty and was immediately sentenced to 10 years in state prison Thursday for the burglary, as well as two prior burglary convictions.
Jamone Ivan Rougely, 21, was charged with burglarizing a home on December 27 in the 68000 block of Calle Azteca, according to Police Cpl. Christopher Saucier.
Officers received reports at about 2:50 p.m. of a “suspicious person” trying to open windows at the home. Responding officers found the back door of the house open and set up a perimeter, capturing Rougely when he walked out of the house carrying a bag full of stolen property, Saucier said.
Rougely pleaded not guilty in December but withdrew the plea Thursday during a felony settlement conference. He received a four-year sentence for the December burglary, while also
receiving five years for an October 2014 burglary and one year for a September 2012 burglary. The sentences will be served consecutively.
Rougely also has prior convictions for robbery and receiving stolen property.
