Supervisor wants explanation for 911 outage

Riverside County Supervisor John Benoit wants an explanation after last week’s 911 outage in the Coachella Valley.

Benoit sent letters to state and federal regulatory agencies.

He wants the agencies to investigate the cause of the outage in order to prevent a similar problem.

In a statement Benoit said, “The public and first responders rely on 911 to be constantly operational and it is highly concerning when this vital emergency service line is down for any amount of time.”

Frontier communications last week told News Channel 3/CBS Local 2 the outage was highly unusual and they responded immediately.

A company spokesman also insisted it was not related to the many other complaints after Frontier took-over landline, internet, and cable TV service from Verizon.
