Construction underway for new downtown parking structure in Palm Springs
Construction has begun on a new parking structure for Downtown Palm Springs that will open up 850 additional parking spaces near the Spa Resort Casino.
Crews are installing fencing and site preparations are underway for the new parking structure being built by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians just north of the casino on Calle Encilia.
Officials said construction is expected to take about one year, with parking opening in 2017.
During construction, there are many areas designated for self-parking, and Spa Resort Casino guests can use a temporary valet along Calle Encilia. Though some parking spaces at the Spa Resort Casino will be temporarily closed during the construction, the total number of valet, self-parking, and handicap accessible spaces has been increased in the past year to provide for guest convenience through this transition, according to the Tribe’s news release.
“The Spa Resort Casino team looks forward to providing convenient covered parking in our ongoing pursuit to offer the best possible experience for our guests and visitors to downtown Palm Springs,” said C.J. Graham, Chief Operating Officer of Spa Resort Casino and Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa.
The Tribe selected McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. as the general contractor for the project.
