For 8-years the Future Champions Golf Tournament, featuring the best boys and girls in the world from ages 7 to 18 have made their way to the valley but for the first time it was held at Westin Mission Hills. A successful stop here in 2016 and now with plenty more years ahead in the future.

“A lot of these kids are golfers from all around the world, and the feedback we have gotten is absolutely incredible. Looks like they are planning to coming back again next year, looking forward to hosting them and a lot of great scores were put on the board the last couple days.” Director of Operations at the Westin, Michael O’Hara said.

“We run it as first class as we could, parents and players seemed to be enjoying it. Great scores, great players, and kids from over 25 countries are here.” President of the FCG, Chris Smeal said.

“If you are going to play competitive golf in the summer, this is the place to be absolutely.” added the Director of Operations for the Tournament, Antrone Williams.

After 3-days and 54-holes of golf at the Westin, Champions were crowned.

“It feels good because I won some other tournaments before, like tiny ones, but this is probably the biggest one I’ve ever won.” Ryan Liang the winner of the 9-10 Boys said.

“I have been going back here for the summer since I was five. I have been traveling everywhere around Asia for golf.” added Francesca Bernice Olivarez-Ilas the winner of the 13-14 year old girls.

“I didn’t get to jump in the water, but it’s the course where the ladies get to jump in the water. The greens were perfect this week so that helped a lot.” Tommy Stephenson the 15-18 year old champion said.

“It feels like a vacation.” said Caden Fioroni of San Diego and the 13-14 Boy’s Champion.

280 golfers teeing off for this July event that helps keep people coming to the valley even in the heat of summer.

“Definitely a slower time of year here in the Palm Desert area, so having this group of individuals here has been a remarkable experience here at the hotel, and in the whole Palm Springs area.” O’Hara added.
