Gang, drugs team arrest duo in Thousand Palms

A search Wednesday of a now-condemned Thousand Palms home resulted in two arrests, the confiscation of hundreds of rounds of ammunition and drug paraphernalia, and the discovery of three mistreated dogs,
a sheriff’s sergeant said.
A SWAT team descended on the home in the 30700 block of Rose View Lane this morning to serve a narcotics-related search warrant and found “hundreds of rounds of ammunition and items related to the sales of narcotics,” Sgt. Frank Schiavone said.
County animal officials were called to the scene to tend to three dogs “in need of immediate veterinary care,” he said, adding that Riverside County Code Enforcement officials deemed the home uninhabitable and condemned the residence.
Renee Messemore, 42, was arrested on suspicion of felony animal cruelty.
She was booked at the Riverside County jail in Indio, where she was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail, according to jail records.
Daniel Valladares, 33, was arrested on suspicion of being the subject of an active felony warrant. He was booked at the Riverside County jail in Indio, where he was being held in lieu of $230,000 bail.
Another man was cited for three active misdemeanor warrants and released, Schiavone said.
The sheriff’s investigation was ongoing.
