Ride the bus and enjoy free WiFi

Coachella Valley residents can now ride the bus while enjoying free WiFi service as they travel around the area.

The Sunline Transit Agency announced Thursday its implementation of free WiFi on all it’s fixed-route bus lines, available for all riders to use and enjoy.

“WiFi will allow our riders to accomplish many things while getting where they need to go in the valley,” said General Manager Lauren Skiver. “We recognize that everyone is busy, and providing easy access to WiFi is one way our riders can keep up.”

The agency made the move to allow riders to spend data-free time on their smart phones, tablets and laptop computers to catch up on work, study or engage with social media.

The WiFi offering also narrows the gap between the convenience of driving versus taking transit, according to Sunline.

SunLine is unveiling the WiFi service on all SunBus vehicles, excluding SunDial.

It’s already been available on Commuter Link 220 buses.

To log on, riders simply select SunLine’s WiFi network and type in the password “sunlinewifi.”

Riders can now save data on their phone plans while using their travel time to complete tasks or social interaction so that they may ‘disconnect to reconnect’ with family and friends once they arrive at their destinations.
