Major road work in store all week at Jefferson Street interchange

The city of Indio’s Public Works Department has announced major road closures throughout the entire week while crews work on the Jefferson Street interchange project. The construction will continue necessary bridge and road work in the area, and might have you looking for an alternate route to avoid traffic delays.

The closures of northbound and westbound Indio Boulevard at Jefferson Street began Monday at 6 a.m. and will continue until 4 p.m. Friday, city officials said in a release. The construction work will also place a full closure for eastbound lanes of I-10 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and alternating lane closures on westbound I-10 during that same time.

Detour Route:

Go west on Indio Blvd. to Jefferson Street, turn left at Jefferson Street, turn right at Avenue 42, turn right at Country Club Drive, Turn right on Washington Street, turn right on Varner Road.

Lane closures will take place on I-10 at Jefferson Street during the construction this week as well.

Closure Schedule – Alternate 1:

Full nighttime closure of the eastbound lanes of I-10 Monday – Friday 10PM-6AM.

Detour Route:

Take eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Jefferson Street, turn left on existing Jefferson Street over crossing, turn right on Varner Road, turn right on Monroe Street, turn left on eastbound I-10 freeway on-ramp at Monroe Street.

Alternating nighttime lane closures of westbound I-10: (Only one alternative will be used each night)

Monday at 10 p.m. through 6 a.m. Friday

Closure Schedule – Alternate 2:

Full nighttime closure of westbound lanes of I-10 Monday at 10 p.m. through 6 a.m. Friday

Detour Route:

Take the temporary westbound I-10 off-ramp at Jefferson Street. Turn left on Varner Road, turn left on Jefferson Street, turn right on westbound on-ramp to I-10 freeway.
