Deputies: La Quinta kidnapping didn’t happen

The La Quinta Police Department was called to a reported kidnapping at Highway 111 and Adams Street in La Quinta Tuesday night, but now authorities are saying a kidnapping didn’t actually occur.

The victim said the suspect stopped his vehicle along the curb near the bus stop and then pulled her into his car and drove away with her, deputies said in a news release. But after further investigation, the Thermal Sheriff’s Station reported that the suspect did not pull the woman into his vehicle.

This is an active and ongoing investigation and deputies are working to determine what in fact happened during the incident.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Investigator Matthew Diaz with the Thermal Sheriff’s Station at 760 863-8990.
