Construction detours remain through Friday at Jefferson Interchange

Caltrans says eastbound freeway on and off ramps to the Jefferson Interchange will close to daytime traffic Wednesday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will also be overnight full freeway closures Wednesday through Friday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the Jefferson construction project.

Friday ramp and freeway lane closures will only happen if weather delays work Wednesday or Thursday.

Motorists will celebrate the opening of the new Jefferson overpass crossing Interstate 10 in Indio.

The new bridge opened traffic Monday evening from Indio Boulevard, but the westbound on ramp is not yet open.

That means motorists will have to detour to Varner Road, then take two left turns to get to the westbound construction onramp, which is still in use for a few more days.

Also, the freeway’s eastbound off ramp is open.

But southbound Indio boulevard is closed from the exit. Motorists can take a left at the exit to Varner Road, then take a right turn and another right turn onto the new Jefferson bridge to get to Indio Boulevard.

Motorists can also so you’ll still want to get off the freeway at Washington Street or Monroe if you’re headed to Indio Boulevard or Jefferson Street.
