Palm Desert man found after search

Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies say a Palm Desert man who went missing over the weekend is now safe.

Deputies said 82-year-old James Edward Arensdorf was found in Desert Hot Springs. He was taken to a hospital to be checked out as a precaution.

Arensdorf left his home in Palm Desert around 11 a.m. Saturday to take some friends to Palm Springs International Airport, and did not return.

According to deputies, Arensdorf’s friends said he left the airport in his vehicle around 11:45 a.m. Officials were concerned that he might have gotten lost after leaving Palm Springs.

Deputies said Arensdorf did stop at a local convenience store in Morongo Valley, and asked for directions to Interstate 10.

California Highway Patrol officers have canceled the Silver Alert they issued Saturday.

Officials with the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station put a message on Facebook to thank the public for their help in finding Arensdorf.
