First Alert Weather Alert issued for monsoon thunderstorms through 10 p.m. tonight

DISCUSSION

An active monsoon is pushing its way deeper into Riverside County midweek, bringing more humidity and increasing storm chances. A First Alert Weather Alert has been issued today through Thursday evening as monsoon thunderstorms are expected to become scattered over the mountains and desert.

A Flood Watch will be in effect until 10 p.m. as more storms are expected. Any thunderstorm that develops will be capable of producing heavy rainfall.

Similar to Wednesday, thunderstorms will begin to develop over local mountains and the High Desert early this afternoon. The primary threat of heavy rain is over the mountains, but the Coachella Valley has an opportunity to receive rainfall as well.

Gradually drying will take place into the weekend with warming temperatures.
